Where is the Violence against Men Act?

Men are 5 times more likely than women to be murdered, four times more likely to commit suicide, 140 times as likely to be murdered by a woman than a father is to murder a child, and constitute 94% of workplace fatalities?

Compared to the number of wives murdered by husbands, 170 times as many women die from the FLU, 144 times as many die from diabetes, 61 times as many die from alzheimer's, 51 times as many die from septicimia, 2,260 times as many women die of heart disease, 76 times as many MEN are murdered, 10 times as many women DROWN, 84 times as many die in auto accidents (most of which are caused by women themselves), and women murder 5 times as many children

	Nine independent studies confirm women perpetrate majority of domestic violence.

According to Bureau of Justice Statistics "Spouse Murder Defendants in Large Urban Counties", NCJ-153256, 143 White husbands murdered their wives in 1988.  But 86 White wives murdered their husbands that year, and they were treated far more kindly by the courts than these husbands.  Including black wives, women murdered 222 of their husbands, and 70 of these murderers weren't even prosecuted, compared to none of the husbands who weren't prosecuted.  Juries acquitted 16 of these wives, compared to none of the husbands.   Only 19 of these wives received a prison sentence longer than 20 years or were given the death penalty, compared to 111 of the husbands.  Even when women were convicted, they received sentences of only 6 years, compared to 16.5 years, or almost three times as long, for the husbands.

Even though husbands are only 59% of those who murder their spouses, and wives are 41%, wives are infinitely more likely to not be prosecuted than husbands, they are infinitely more likely to be acquitted by juries, husbands are twice as likely to receive a prison sentence, six times as likely to be imprisoned for more than twenty years, and receive a prison sentence almost three times as long as women for the SAME crime.

With DNA evidence now proving that half of the convictions in the country were false, it's possible that only 138 of the 275 husbands, and only 62 of the 124 White husbands who were convicted of killing their wives in 1998 were guilty in the first place.

This hardly justifies the expenditure of billions of taxpayers' dollars for VAWA.

According to Shere Hite, 1.4 million American wives committed adultery last year.  According to Barbara Rothman, 400,000 children born last year in intact families were not genetically linked to the husband of those families.  Yet, according to the federal government itself, Deaths: Final Data for 1996, by Kimberley D. Peters; Kenneth D. Kochanek, M.A.; and Sherry L. Murphy, Division of Vital Statistics, Volume 47, Number 9 November 10, 1998, only 199 wives were murdered by their husbands in 1996, which shows a considerable amount of restraint on behalf of American men:

3. O'Leary--27% of wives and 36% husbands "victim of spousal violence"

4. Brinkerhoff--4.8% of wives and 10% of  husbands "victim of severe violence"

5. Strauss--12.2% of wives and 12.4% of husbands "assaulted"

6. U. Texas--14% of wives and 18% of husbands victims of "violent act"

7. McNeely--86% of wives and 25% of husbands "used a weapon" in their attack

8. Henton--2.3% females, 4.9% males, & 16% mutual (total of 23%) "experienced PREMARITAL violence"

9. Strauss--3.8% of wives and 4.6% of husbands victims of "severe violence"

10. Nisonoff--12.7% of wives and 18.6% of husbands were "hit by spouse"
